By bringing this display to the Hessel School House\, we hope to create opportunities for discussion about the effects and legacy of these schools—conversations that can help us listen to one another\, build understanding\, and create bridges within our communities. \nOrange Shirt Day — September 30\nWe also encourage everyone to participate in Orange Shirt Day – Every Child Matters on September 30. \nSeptember 30 was chosen because it falls at the time of year when Indigenous children were historically taken from their homes and families and sent to residential schools. Orange Shirt Day provides an opportunity for the community to come together in the spirit of reconciliation and hope for generations of children to come. DESCRIPTION:COMMUNITY ACUPUNCTURE AT THE HESSEL SCHOOL HOUSE\nTuesday\, October 6 | 1:00–3:00 PM\nHessel School House\n$60 per person | Limited to 10 participants per session \nInstructor: Kerry Kott \nExperience acupuncture in a welcoming\, relaxed community setting at the Hessel School House. This small-group offering is designed to make acupuncture more accessible\, affordable\, and approachable for those who may be curious about trying it or who are looking for another way to support their overall well-being. \nLed by a licensed acupuncturist practicing since 2011\, each session begins with a few minutes of gentle movement and an introduction to acupuncture. Participants will have an opportunity to briefly share their primary concern and how they are feeling before settling comfortably into chairs for treatment. \nThis community format uses ear acupuncture\, with small needles placed at specific points in the ear. Ear acupuncture is commonly used to support a variety of physical and emotional concerns\, including everyday aches and discomfort\, stress\, and other ongoing wellness needs. Once the needles are placed\, participants will rest together in a calm environment with music before the needles are removed and the practitioner checks in with each person. \nSessions last up to 75 minutes\, depending on the number of participants\, with a maximum of 10 people per session. \nFor those interested in extending the experience\, ear seeds may be added for $15 following the session. These tiny seeds are placed on selected ear points and remain in place so the points can continue to be gently stimulated after you leave. \nWhether acupuncture is already part of your wellness routine or you’ve always wondered what it might be like\, this community session offers an easy\, low-pressure opportunity to experience it close to home. \nTo register\, call 906-484-1333 or REGISTER ONLINE.
