Using two weaving techniques—randing and slewing—you will have the opportunity to incorporate a decorative band on the side of your basket\, adding a unique and personalized touch to your creation. Dyed reeds will be provided for you to use\, allowing you to experiment with different colors and patterns. All supplies are included in the class fee\, so all you need to bring is your creativity and enthusiasm. DESCRIPTION:Wednesdays\, August 21 & 28 • 2:00 – 5:00 PM \nIn this class\, Cheryl Gordon will provide each student with a loom. They will learn how to prepare fabric strips for weaving\, how to warp the loom\, and how to do tabby weaving. Students will need to bring approximately 7 to 8 yards of cotton fabric to create a beautiful functional rug\, approximately 30” x 45” in size. Class fee includes loom and warping thread and two class sessions. SUMMARY:Qigong
DESCRIPTION:Bill McMillan\, a long time summer resident of Les Cheneaux\, will be offering a weekly class in Qigong and relaxation that is open to anyone interested.  This will be his second summer teaching this class at the Hessel School House.  Originating in China centuries ago\, Qigong is a system of movements and philosophies created to help us to be more in tune with our bodies and with our lives.  Everyone is welcome\, including those suffering with injuries or chronic illness.  Bill has taught classes to cancer patients\, families\, veterans\, high school students and the general public for the past 12 years\, including last summer at the Schoolhouse.  Please feel free to contact Bill with any questions or concerns.  billmcmillan74@gmail.com \nClasses will be held on Thursdays from August 1 – August 22 from 9:00 – 10:00 am.
