DESCRIPTION:You are cordially invited to attend a Program and Exhibition of the McKenney & Hall Native American Lithograph Portraits from the Michilimackinac Historical Society Collection on Thursday\, August 29 from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. at the Hessel School House. \nThomas L. McKenney was the Superintendent of Indian Affairs at the time of President Andrew Jackson’s endorsement of the Indian Removal Act in 1830. He witnessed the mass displacement of Native American tribes from their homelands. Together with James Hall\, McKenney initiated a project to document the likeness and biographies of 125 Native American chiefs\, orators and translators who engaged in territorial negotiations with the U.S. Government during this time. Swappers must bring their own bags for the supplies they would like to take. You may take as much or as little as you want whether you donated items or not. Swappers are invited to make a $10 donation to support Hessel School House – Avery Arts & Nature Learning Center programs. \nWhen the Swap ends\, our volunteers will pack up any remaining supplies and save them for the next swap\, use them for future classes\, or donate them.
