In this class, we will explore how to use natural dye at home using kitchen waste or dyestuff foraged from the environment. Participants will learn about the mordanting process and how to get the best color from natural dyes. We will also utilize Shibori techniques to create surface design before dyeing. Students will leave with a beautifully personal naturally dyed silk scarf and expanded knowledge of the craft.
*Participants should dress for mess and bring their own rubber gloves, aprons, and a plastic bag to transport dyed items.
Class size is limited to 12 students.
