Full-time position, with flexible hours and days respective to individual needs and situations; some evening and weekend hours will be required.
Preferred: a bachelor’s degree in administration or equivalent, with at least two years’ administration and bookkeeping experience, and an understanding of non-profit operations.
Required: strong organizational and time management skills, keen attention to detail, and strong self-motivation with ability to prioritize. Of utmost importance are superior people and communication skills, and the ability to be a team player; proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, and other office management tools and applications; familiarity with common procedures and accounting principles.
Job description: The HSH Office Administrator essentially serves as Host of the Hessel School House, a critical role in this remarkable community effort to utilize an extraordinary historic landmark to benefit the Les Cheneaux Islands area and Eastern Upper Peninsula. The Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the office and facility, and its use; as well as administrating and organizing volunteers, and assisting the Avery Learning Center Director with programs and projects, including the annual Aldo Leopold Festival and publication of The Guide. He/she maintains the bookkeeping database, as well as email and address databases, and the processing of donations and donor recognition.
Salary: $35k to $40k, based on skills and experience
